Dr William Sanderson is Associate Professor of Marine Biodiversity at Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University. His research concentrates on sensitive management and sustainable development with a focus on habitats and species of high biodiversity conservation importance. Bill is the Research Director for the multi-award winning Dornoch Environmental Enhancement Project (DEEP), a partnership between Glenmorangie, Heriot-Watt University and the Marine Conservation Society that will restore native oyster reefs to the Dornoch Firth beside Glenmorangie Distillery. As Director of St Abbs Marine Station in Scotland, Bill is also developing research to better understand the societal value of native oysters and how their habitats are best enhanced.
