Founder, Jokalante, Senegal
Ndeye Amy Kebe is the founder of Jokalante, a social enterprise in Senegal, which uses radio and mobile alerts to share updates with smallholder farmers in poor, rural communities. Jokalante’s smart, voice-based platform overcomes the challenges of illiteracy by broadcasting information in preferred local languages, including weather updates and information on certified seeds. This keeps the listeners informed and able to get the fairest deal when purchasing seeds, and to make preparations in advance of weather changes. Holder of a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting, as well as a master's degree in Science Education and Adult Training from Lille 1 university, Ndeye Amy Kebe set up training devices for adults using new technologies. Ambitious and passionate, she believes in the capacity of ICT to impact the lives of communities and transcend economic and social constraints.
